40 mile gravel bike ride in the New Forest National Park.
****
All welcome!
****
The plan is to meet 9.30am at Cyclexperience New Forest Cycle Hire, Brockenhurst station, for a 10am start and then head north towards Lyndhurst, following the route outlined below. Parking is available at Brockenhurst station for £3 a day.
If you don’t have a suitable bike for the route, then do not despair – the team at CycleXperience have very kindly offered a 25% discount on bike hire for the Gravel Ride. To take up this great offer just leave them a note on the booking form saying ‘gravel ride deal’ and you’ll be sorted! Payment for booking will be taken on the day. They will also have some Garmin Connect’s for hire (free with a £30 deposit). Book your bike here.
Please use the online map to explore the route. TCX and GPX files will be made available too.
Cross, gravel, mountain, single speed & road (with 28mm tyres) bikes should be fine for tackling the route. The route is a mix of road and gravel (roads being used to bridge the gravel paths).
The plan is to have a ‘cake stop’ at Hyde. A selection of cakes etc will be available (for free), but it’s probably a good plan to bring your own food to keep you going as well.
It’s important to emphasise that this is a social ride with the aim of enjoying great parts of the New Forest in good company. The pace will be easy.
There is no support or ‘broom wagon’ so please ensure you have enough spares.
It would be helpful in terms of the cake stop to have an idea of numbers, so if you could complete the short form below, then we can do our best to bake enough cakes!
If you’ve got any questions or comments, please email or message on Twitter.
Allez!
